Solomon wrote the Song of Songs in a theatrical style. Scholars agree that this song was originally composed for singers to perform before an audience. Since it is called a song, some describe the song as an ancient musical. The reader must distinguish parts of this song by gender and number and to whom one is spoken by gender and number. Song of Solomon Summary. This book begins with a man in blue wings. A man in blue wings jumps off of a white hospital, and is watched by a predominantly black audience below. Step into our handy dandy time machine (which you won’t be able to live without in this novel), and fast forward four years.

The Song of Solomon is part of the wisdom literature of the Bible. It gives us a godly perspective on the love between a man and a woman.

As we encounter God’s ideal, our shortcomings, sins, and failures become evident. Our appreciation for the gospel grows even deeper as we see new ways that we need the grace of God in Christ.

The Song of Songs, also Song of Solomon or Canticles (Hebrew: שִׁיר הַשִּׁירִים Šîr Hašîrîm, Greek and Ancient Greek: Ἆισμα Ἀισμάτων, romanized: Âsma Āsmátōn; Latin: Canticum Canticōrum), is one of the megillot (scrolls) found in the last section of the Tanakh, known as the Ketuvim (or "Writings"), and a book of the Old Testament.

A major thread in Song of Solomon is the Bible, but not the Bible of institutional belief systems. Morrison is using the Bible for her own purposes. Consider one of her key characters, Pilate Dead, the aunt of the central figure Macon Dead III, known as Milkman.

The book, according to a reviewer on this very website, bitterly states that Song of Solomon is more fable than novel. Attempting to paint the novel as fable undercuts its central mission: to highlight Toni Morrison is perhaps the most important writer living today and Song of Solomon is perhaps the best novel of the last 50 years of American life/5(K).
